Vulnerable

12-16-2014
It's the Holiday season and I'm thinking about the reason for the season.
How amazing that Jesus came and became so limited and vulnerable and experienced everything we experience while growing as a child.
I have a new grand-daughter Clare Laybourn born 2 months ago. (October 8th) How fragile she is, how dependent on Matt and Jamie she is. She cannot to anything without help. What a vulnerable time in a life. Love carries them through. Love feeds them and cares for them and keeps them warm and clean and growing!
So Jesus too came, and though he was God in flesh, he needed these two humans, Joseph and Mary, to care and love and protect him. And they did, even though there were those who wanted to destroy this infant. God himself and these two trusting humans, got the job done.
Today I have a new appreciation for the humiliation and vulnerability of Jesus when he came to earth, born of a virgin woman, cared for by two imperfect humans and as he grew in wisdom and stature, he headed towards the greatest demonstration of love ever seen.
I am very thankful that God sent Jesus and Jesus willingly came...
for us, for love!
